Professor Dianne O’Connell leads the Research Methods stream and has extensive experience in designing and analysing epidemiological studies and randomised controlled trials. She also specialises in evidence-based health care and health services research. She has extensive experience in analysing large, routinely collected datasets. Dianne is a statistical editor and a member of the Executive for the Cochrane Breast Cancer Group. She is a former member of the Evaluation Sub-committee advising the Australian Government’s Medical Services Advisory Committee and reviewing submissions for listing of items in the Medicare Benefits Schedule. She leads a team of research fellows, biostatisticians, data-analysts and systematic reviewers who conduct and provide methodological and statistical support to the research being undertaken within The Daffodil Centre and Cancer Council NSW.

Dianne is a member of the Academic Reference Group for the International Benchmarking Project SURVMARK-2, and NHMRC’s Research Quality Steering Committee and Synthesis and Translation of Research Evidence Advisory Group.
