Dr Deanne Jenkin is an early career cancer researcher whose current research focus is exploring multiple myeloma initiatives in Australia using epidemiology and microsimulation modelling as part of the Cancer-Patient Population Projections project. She is also an investigator on an analysis of opioid use and cancer outcomes using the 45 and Up Cohort Study. Dr Jenkin completed a PhD in Medicine from UNSW Australia which examined opioid use, dependence and complications following musculoskeletal trauma and surgery. This research aimed to explore the incidence of prescription opioid use and dependence within orthopaedic trauma and end-stage osteoarthritis population and to test a new model (a less-is-more-approach) for pain management after fracture surgery.
