Webinar: Implementation of equitable care across the cancer continuum

This month the Daffodil Centre was delighted to invite the Triple I (Innovation-Implementation-Impact) stream to host a webinar for the Daffodil Centre Research Webinar series.

Facilitated by Associate Professor Ben Smith, this online event showcases three early career researchers leading the way towards implementation of equitable care across the cancer continuum.

Speakers

Dr Ashfaq Chauhan

Dr Ashfaq Chauhan is an early career researcher, registered physiotherapist and migrant from an LGBTQI+ background whose work centres on advancing equity in patient safety and healthcare quality for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. His research at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation, Macquarie University, uses mixed-method and co-design approaches, engaging directly with consumers to uncover and address systemic disparities in health outcomes. Dr Chauhan collaborates with national and statewide health systems, agencies, and community representatives to implement innovative, consumer-informed solutions. His contributions have been recognised with over 10 national and international awards, reflecting the impact of his work in health services research and equity-driven innovation.

Dr Nicola Creagh

Nicola Creagh is an early career public health researcher, implementation scientist and Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Health Sciences, University of Sydney. Nicola’s research informs and evaluates policy and programmatic changes to optimise their equitable implementation and scale-up in the Australian healthcare system. Nicola works across clinical areas - including cancer screening, cardiovascular disease prevention, and best-practice hip fracture care - prioritising work that drives system changes to improve access and outcomes for populations least served by the health system. Nicola is committed to leading her research with heart and equity as core principles and feels privileged to contribute to the work of ensuring systems are accessible and inclusive for all.

Dr Verena Wu

Dr Verena Wu is a Research Fellow at the Daffodil Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney. Her research focuses on culturally responsive psycho-oncology and health equity among culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) populations. Dr Wu has expertise in conducting culturally sensitive qualitative research underpinned by co-design and consumer partnership and applying cultural frameworks to guide implementation strategies.
