Victoria Turner

Position:

Consumer Panel Member

Victoria Turner lives in northern NSW, and in 2020, was diagnosed with Stage 3C high-grade serous ovarian cancer. She has many family members who have been diagnosed with cancer and has a background as a registered nurse and university lecturer. Victoria is an active ovarian cancer advocate and volunteers as the Northern NSW Regional Coordinator & presenter for the ANZGOG Survivors Teaching Students program. She is actively involved in various community engagement and advisory roles within the Northern NSW Local Health District. Currently, she is a consumer on five research projects, including fear of cancer recurrence, treatment for chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), and Interferon Epsilon IFNe to treat metastatic ovarian cancer. She is also the Co-Chair of ECORRA and a member of the VCCC Alliance Steering Group, for improving equity for rural and remote cancer patients.

Victoria is motivated to address the disadvantages faced by regional, rural and remote patients and improve their access to clinical trials and better treatment options. She would like to contribute to more research on the fear of cancer recurrence and post-treatment symptoms such as CIPN. Through her experience with her father, who had prostate & lung cancer, she would like to contribute to better awareness of, and earlier access to, palliative care and end-of-life care.
