Gill Stannard is a long-term ovarian cancer survivor, an experienced consumer in research, and a business owner. Since completing Cancer Council NSW/Cancer Voices advocacy and consumer training in 2018, she joined the TCRN (now SPHERE) consumer advisory panel and began working directly with researchers in universities across NSW. As a Chief Investigator on an MRFF drug repurposing study, she has seen this project through from lab to clinical trial. Her involvement at the Daffodil Centre includes the consumer panel, ovarian stream, and survivorship research. Having lived experience of a cancer with poor outcomes was her initial motivation to become a consumer, and there are still many unmet needs in this area. Beyond gynaecological cancers, she also collaborates on survivorship issues, including fear of recurrence and living well beyond cancer.
