Dr Watts is an early career researcher with a focus on health economics and epidemiology. She is interested in the diagnosis and management of melanoma, and how strategies to improve melanoma management can be translated into practice and policy. Her PhD provided the first evidence that it was cost-effective to manage individuals at very high risk of melanoma using total body photography and sequential dermoscopy imaging of suspicious lesions compared to usual care. This research has underpinned changes to melanoma management guidelines. Other current research interests include uptake of sentinel lymph node biopsy and strategies to improve skin cancer detection and management.
