Saba Nabi OAM

Position:

Consumer Panel Member

Saba Nabi OAM lives in regional NSW with her young family and brings experience as a regional health consumer, research leader, and community advocate. Her main focus is on cultural needs and challenges in accessing support. As a health consumer and community representative, she has contributed to advisory groups, consultations, and projects with NSW Health, Primary Health Networks, and national bodies. This has strengthened her ability to communicate community needs, evaluate health resources, and provide constructive feedback. She previously participated as a consumer on the MRFF Assessment Panel and was part of the consumer panel working on the “Deprescribing Medication” project. She is currently involved in numerous consultations with Health Consumers NSW, the Consumer Health Forum of Australia, and WAHTN. Saba also serves as the Deputy Co-Chair of the NSW Health Consumer, Carer and Community Council, ensuring that regional voices are heard at the governance table.

Cancer affects many families in regional communities, and Saba wants to advocate for strategies and research that improve early detection, access to care, and patient experience. She hopes to strengthen communication, reduce barriers, and help deliver solutions that improve outcomes for people facing cancer. Her focus is on clear communication, patient needs, and practical insights that support cancer awareness and improve local health services, informed by her lived experience of losing her grandmother, aunt, and other family members to cancer.
