Beth Firipis is the Executive Officer for the Health Services Research Association of Australia and New Zealand (HSRAANZ), bringing her expertise in health services research, strategy and advocacy to the role.
Beth is an early career health economist passionate about improving health equity for marginalised communities. She uses real-world data, biostatistics and health economic modelling to advocate for effective and equitable health policy.
Beth’s passion for social equity extends beyond her professional roles, volunteering with several LGBTQI+ community organisations. She played a key role developing the proposal for NSW’s first Pride Centre which opened in the Inner West of Sydney in August 2024. Beth also serves as Director of Mentoring for Out For Australia and Chair of the Statistical Society of Australia’s (SSA) Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee.
Beth holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Health Economics from Deakin University, and she is currently continuing her studies through the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia (BCA) program.
While completing her masters, Beth worked as an Analyst for the Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA), working on cost-benefit analyses of the Agency’s digital health initiatives. Before transitioning into health economics, Beth worked in various roles managing logistics for Melbourne’s prefab construction industry.
