Dr Louiza Velentzis (PhD, MSc, BSc (joint Hons)) is a cancer epidemiologist who co-leads the Breast Cancer Policy and Evaluation Stream. She is also an honorary senior research fellow at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health at the University of Melbourne. Dr Velentzis conducts policy-relevant research on breast and cervical cancer, with a focus on prevention, screening and early detection. She is currently involved in various programs of work including a Roadmap to optimising screening in Australia (ROSA-breast) exploring personalised risk-based breast screening; epidemiological evaluations of exogenous hormones as risk factors in breast and cervical cancer development, and assessing the impact of psychological, reproductive and lifestyle factors on HPV-based cervical screening, compliance and HPV vaccination uptake.
