Suzanne Hughes manages, designs and conducts scoping and systematic reviews in consultation with multiple stakeholders to deliver high quality objective evidence to underpin clinical practice and government policy. Since 2007 she has reviewed a wide range of topics including breast and prostate imaging, multicancer detection tests, prostate cancer testing, liver cancer surveillance, colorectal cancer screening, family histories as risk factors for colorectal and prostate cancers, the effect of a cancer diagnosis on COVID mortality, psychosocial interventions for prostate cancer, and treatments for prostate cancer, lung cancer, and cervical cancer. Several of these reviews were the evidence bases for PSA testing guidelines, liver cancer surveillance guidelines, colorectal cancer screening guidelines, clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer and guidelines to support the National Cervical Screening Program. Suzanne also provides advice on systematic review methods and strategies to other researchers and students.
